National Wheelchair Cricket Tournament

6th All Pakistan National Wheelchair Cricket tournament was organized by Saaya Association (Islamabad), Milestone (Lahore) & DWA (Karachi) under the Umbrella of CBID Network in which 10 teams (including 2 teams of Women with disabilities) from different DPO’s participated. 15% of the total population of Pakistan is disabled persons and this marginalized community still suffers lack of facilitation and proper knowledge of managing lives with disability. Like other facilitations, this segment of society has kept behind in healthy activities too like sports. They in fact are not considered healthy enough to participate in any outdoor sports but credit goes to the Disabled Persons Organizations who made it happen in the well befitting manner, the Role of DPOs in collaboration with other organization introducing and promoting sports for persons with disabilities can never be denied.

Disabled persons organization incepted this idea of sports for persons with disabilities in Pakistan and executed it in the well manner, practically organizing sports festival across the country they proved that self-done is well done. This event was organized to display that the abilities of people with disabilities are no less than anyone else in the society. Through this meaningful event, community, parents, teachers, students and public were sensitized.

Following prominent figures were part of the event along with players and public. Mr. MushahidUllah Khan (Federal Minister for Climate Change, Senator), Dr. ShahnawazMunami (National Coordinator CBID Network) , Dr.ImamYarBaig (Country head,CBM), Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Gangera (Director General, Pakistan Sports Board) , Mr. Ghulam (Coordinator National Bank), MuneeraAbbasi (Joint secretory Law & Justice commission of Pakistan), MustafainKazmi (Member Environment,CDA), Sohail Khan (CEO, CHEF international), Raheel Kamran Sheikh (Barrister),FazalurRehman(Past district governor Rotary club), Imran Nazir (Executive director,LCDDP), Farhat Abbas (Chief editor, Pakistan Special) , Ajmal Khan (Director,CBM), MunazzaGillani(Country director, Sight savers), Christopher (Manager CSR, National Bank Pakistan), JamilHashmi (SP Islamabad), RizwanUmerGonda (SP City Islamabad).

Welcome dinner along with music festivity was organized by the organizing committee where representatives from the national assembly, INGOs, NGOs and civil servants participated. All the teams and their official members were present and enjoyed the diner with musical performances from different local well-tuned musical figures. Mian Aim Zafar introduced the participants to the dignities from respectable parliament and other entities and made them understand the history of wheelchair cricket in Pakistan and need of its promotion at government level for the healthy generation with equal opportunities of life.

Women with Disabilities Cricket Match.

It is true to relate here that this event bear fruits as it Helped Developing different DPO’s (Disable Persons Organizations) in the Country & in empowered person with disabilities as well that proved as strength for Disability movement in Pakistan.Saaya Association Islamabad, Disabled Welfare Association Karachi & Milestone Lahore organized the 6th all National Wheelchair Users Cricket tournament at Jinnah Stadium Islamabad under the Umbrella of CBID Network.For the first time in the history of Pakistan CBID Network has given the opportunity to the National Forum Of Women with Disabilty Network to organized a women wheelchair cricket match .Ms.SaimaAslam (National Co-Coordinator National forum of Women with Disabilities)  gathered women with disabilities from different cities of Pakistan in Islamabad &  make two Teams from them.People showed their Great intention towards that Match & appreciate this effort made by National Forum of women with disabilities. Lots of Women with disabilities,Families & University students watched&appreciated that Effort from National forum of women with Disabilities. Media were also there to cover this beautiful and mega event.
